Does your organization conduct charters?  If not, why:  No, Blacksburg Transit (BT) does not provide charter service because currently federal regulations prohibit BT from competing with local vendors in providing charter service.  The same regulation also prohibits BT from renting buses to private parties.

If you cannot conduct charters, do you know anyone that does and their contact information:  Sunshine Tours, All America Tours and Abbot Bus Lines.

I have a group coming to Virginia Tech (VT) for a conference, is it possible for them to use Blacksburg Transit:  Yes, our current fare is 50 cents per trip.  Conference passes are also available for large parties that would like unlimited access to BT, for more information regarding this please contact BT at

I have a group coming to VT for a conference and they are staying at the Inn at Virginia Tech, can you supply vehicles to get them from the hotel to downtown:  There is a bus stop on West Campus Drive that several buses stop at.  For more information regarding routes please take a look at our schedules.

I have a group staying at the Inn at Virginia Tech, can you supply vehicles to get them from the Airport to the Inn:  Our buses do not operate outside of the Town of Blacksburg limits, to travel to Roanoke they would need to ride the bus, which provides service between the New River Valley and Roanoke. However, we do provide transportation to Virginia Tech's airport via the Ramble Road route.

We are planning a social event in Blacksburg, can we hire BT to transport guests back and forth:  No, BT cannot provide charter service because of the federal guidelines listed in question 1.  All our routes have to provide access to the general public, we cannot provide private service.
