Virginia Tech Football Game Day Service

Blacksburg Transit offers service on all buses and shuttles on football gameday(s). In addition to regular fixed-route service, Blacksburg Transit runs extra football buses on regular routes to facilitate large crowds. Blacksburg Transit also offers shuttle service from Lane Stadium to off campus public parking lots located at Blacksburg High School (P1), located at 520 Patrick Henry Drive and Blacksburg Middle School (P2), located at 3109 Prices Fork Road .

The following fare structure applies to:  all buses, all gameday football shuttles, all routes, all transfers, all destinations, and all parking areas regardless of trip length.  Monthly passes are not valid on football gameday(s).  Please consult the Service Map for exact locations.

$.50 per rider Beginning of service until 3 hours prior to kickoff
$5.00 per rider 3 Hours prior to kickoff until the beginning of halftime
Fare Free 3 Hour period beginning at halftime
$.50 per rider After the 3 hour period till the end of service
** VT hokie passport fares are pre-paid except from P1 & P2

BT Access provides free ADA shuttle service for passengers with disabilities to and from Lane Stadium.  Please call BT Access () for more details.

Football Shuttles begin two and a half hours prior to kickoff and run for two hours after each game.  Regular fixed-route service is suspended for two hours after each game so that those buses can be used to assist departing fans.

Transit Tips:

Before the game:

    • Please check to see what route/shuttle you are boarding.  This will be the route/shuttle you will need to catch after the game.
    • Make sure you have your tickets before you get on board.
    • No food or beverages will be permited on board
    • Inbound buses only drop off at Cassel Coliseum.
    • BT Access vans drop off and pick up at the southside of Lane Stadium.
    • It takes about 10-20 minutes for a bus to make it to Cassell Coliseum.
    • Traffic congestion reaches and remains at its peak one hour prior to kick off.
    • The on campus handicap lot fills up quickly. Please plan accordingly.

During the game:

    • Football Trippers and Shuttles do not operate.
    • BT Access operates limited service from Lane Stadium and the on campus handicap lot.

After the game:

    • Football Trippers and Shuttles resume service half way through the fourth quarter.
    • Please be patient.  Traffic congestion usually lasts one to two hours after the game.
    • Cassell Coliseum is the primary departure area for all buses.  Other departure areas such as Newman Library, Torgersen Hall, Burruss Hall, and Squires East will be served after the crowds at the coliseum have subsided.
    • You may remain on a bus for 20-40 minutes due to traffic congestion.

Virginia Tech Basketball Game Shuttles

Blacksburg Transit offers fare free Basketball Shuttles that circulates between Cassell Coliseum, Litton Reeves, I Lot or "The Cage", South Stadium Parking Lot and Lot 4 for each men's and women’s basketball game. The shuttles run for two hours prior to tip off and one hour after the game, circulating every fifteen minutes.

The shuttle picks up/drops off in front of the west doors located on Spring Street.  This shuttle proceeds to the Litton Reeves Lot, I Lot "The Cage", South Stadium Lot, and Lot 4 (Track & Field Lot).
