Who is eligible for BT Access?

BT Access service is available to anyone who, because of a temporary or permanent disability or limitation, is unable to use the accessible fixed route transit system for any particular trip.

Before using the service, an application must be completed to establish eligibility and allow us to meet your individual needs. Part I of the application includes personal information, questions on physical or mental disability and a medical release form.  After the BT Access office receives Part I of your application you will be entered into our database program and will be eligible to use our service until your eligibity is determined.  Next we will send Part 2 of your application to your personal care physican who will verify your abilities and disabilities. If you would like to hand deliver Part 2 of your application to your physican you may obtain a copy from our downloads page.   Eligible passengers are welcome to use both the fixed route and Paratransit services, due to trip availability some may find the fixed route bus to be more flexable .

Those determined eligible for service will receive a Passenger Identification Card with an identification number.  This ID card is an ADA document which will allow you temporary eligibity on any other ADA compliant paratransit system in America.  ID cards are valid for four years for persons with a permanent disability.  Non-residents, visitors and temporarily disabled persons will also receive ID cards; the length of time for these may vary.
